We urge you to attend a special board meeting on Wednesday, November 15th at the Poway Unified School District (PUSD) to demand the school board investigate Superintendent Marian Phelps and hold the school district leadership accountable. Dr. Phelps has engaged in a number of egregious wrongdoings for personal gains, propagating untrue allegations of bullying, falsifying documents to trump up the bullying narrative, and retaliating against witnesses in opposition. Yet, the PUSD Board has refused to launch a transparent and thorough investigation into her bad conduct.

Dear Poway Unified students, teachers, parents and community members,
We urge you to attend a special board meeting on Wednesday, November 15th at the Poway Unified School District (PUSD) to demand the school board investigate Superintendent Marian Phelps and hold the school district leadership accountable.
The superintendent’s serious abuses of her powers, along with the school board’s irresponsible inaction, have not only harmed the students, families and staff directly involved in the incident, but have also led to erosions in public trust. The situation is so grave that concerned parents, students and PUSD employees finally rallied together and spoke up at the November 9th school board meeting. CFER President Frank Xu also joined the local community in voicing concerns and outrage.
It is time for all local PUSD stakeholders – students, teachers, parents, concerned citizens, to speak up and request the PUSD Board safeguard accountability and integrity in the school district leadership. The special board meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 15th at 10am at the PUSD Community Room (15250 Avenue of Science, San Diego, CA 92128). Local watchdog group PUSD Community Watch will be present at the meeting to advocate for those injured by Superintendent Phelps’ missteps.
Going forward, CFER will continue to work with the local community and the PUSD Community Watch to promote accountability and transparency in PUSD.
Thank you in advance!

About Californians for Equal Rights Foundation (CFER):
We are a non-partisan and non-profit organization established following the defeat of Proposition 16 in 2020, with a mission to defend and raise public awareness on the cause of equal rights through public education, civic engagement and community outreach. In 1996, California became the first U.S. state to amend its constitution by passing Proposition 209 to ban racial discrimination and preferences. Prop. 209 requires that “the state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.” CFER is dedicated to educating the public on this important constitutional principle of equal treatment.
